Twitter Open House June 18th

With Father's Day just around the corner, the California Strawberry Commission has has asked me to provide strawberry nutrition advice and creative ways to enjoy strawberries and keep Dads healthy. All strawberry lovers are invited to join me in a Twitter Open House on Thursday, June 18th at 6:00 p.m. PDT by following the Twitter hashtag: #strawberries. Questions and discussion on any of your health and nutrition needs are welcome during the two-hour session. All participants who use the event's hashtag will be entered to win a North Face Messenger Bag or a Camelbak Water Carrier - either of which would make a great gift for Dad (if you can bear to part with them).

Hope to see you there! For more details, click on the link below!

Fruits and Vegetables. Just Call it 'Man Food'.

Listen up, guys! Here's a new study reinforcing that eating the 101 Foods way can improve your sex-life.

A study published online recently in the journal Fertility and Sterility discovered that men who ate antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables have better rates of sperm movement, ejaculate volume, and sperm concentration than those who ate diets heavy in meat and full-fat dairy foods.

The research, conducted by several universities in Spain, asked 61 men - 30 with poor semen quality, and 31 with normal semen - to rate the frequency with which they ate 93 different foods. None of the participants took dietary or vitamin supplements during the duration of the study.

The men with normal semen ate significantly more carbs, fiber, and antioxidants, specifically folates, vitamin C, and lycopene, than did the men with the lesser semen.

Does that mean that men who want to improve their sperm should start loading up on antioxidants? Yes, says Jaime Mendiola, the study's head and a researcher at the University of Murcia, adding that the participants were ready to do just that.

"Some of the men were willing to change their eating habits," Mendiola tells LiveScience. "In fact, the next 'ideal' study would be to compare if this change in diet pattern may improve semen quality in case subjects."

Latest Nibbles

Hi fellow food lovers!

Long time no post. I guess I have used the excuse of writing my book instead of posting to my blog long enough! So enough lame excuses and on to some interesting stuff.

Book. What I can tell you is that the new book will be coming out December 29th. Advanced orders are available through Randomhouse.com and Amazon.com. The title you see displayed is not set in stone yet. I will post updates as soon as I know anything. And of course, I can't wait to tell you what the book is about - a little too soon for that, though!

Website. Both the 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life and my Nutrition Housecall websites have been updated. On the 101 Foods site, you will see six brand spanking new videos on the health, nutrition and culinary benefits of strawberries, grapes and soy! You must try the recipes - they are amazing and so simple to prepare. The future format of the videos will be two per food: one on the health and nutrition benefits and the other on tips and recipes.

The nutrition housecall website contains all the information you would need on the nutrition consulting services I offer - both personal, group and for industry.

Other stuff. I would love for you to check out this blog - Forty & Fitter. It's about a guy named Greg Ortiz. The Chicago Sun-Times asked me to help Greg shed fifty pounds. Now Greg has been down the weight loss journey before but he feels better prepared than he did the last time he tried losing weight. He's off to a good start and is blogging daily on his progress. Pay him a visit and feel free to give him a shout of encouragement and advice. I may chime in from time to time on his blog, too!

Be on the lookout for a new MizFit Food of the Month Club video coming out June 9th on Strawberries! . And yes, Ken is as clueless as ever...
